Tamil Nadu Assembly: CM Vijay’s TVK Clinches Trust Vote — 144 Ayes
A day after the National Testing Agency announced the cancellation of the NEET_UG medical entrance examination for 2026, the development was raised during the trust vote underway in the Tamil Nadu Assembly. M. H. Jawahirullah of the Manithaneya Makkal Katchi told the house the new government must take a firm stand against NEET and reject the PM SHRI scheme.
“NEET irregularities have become a recurring annual saga. The new government must take a stand against NEET and should not accept the PM SHRI scheme,” Jawahirullah said, linking the cancellation to broader concerns over the examination’s administration.
He praised the previous Tamil Nadu government for implementing several welfare measures that, he said, found strong public support. “In particular, the Magalir Urimai Thogai (Women’s Basic Income), the Vidiyal Payanam (Free Bus Travel), and school education reforms received a great response from the people,” he added.
Jawahirullah also highlighted the administration’s focus on education, noting that the Tamil Nadu government executed nine education-centric schemes and worked to foster a scientific temper among younger generations. He argued that the state’s efforts to maintain social harmony and advance education should be continued by the incoming administration.
