CM Manik Saha Warmly Congratulates Suvendu Adhikari as Bengal’s New CM
Agartala, May 9, 2026 — Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Saturday extended warm congratulations to Suvendu Adhikari after he took oath as the new Chief Minister of West Bengal, calling the event the culmination of “long years of sacrifice and struggle to safeguard Bengal.” Dr. Saha posted the message on social media, describing the swearing-in as a historic moment for the state and for the BJP.
Speaking on behalf of the people of Tripura, Dr. Saha said he conveyed his “heartfelt greetings and congratulations” to Adhikari and added that “the tears, sacrifices, and struggles of countless BJP workers in Bengal have received recognition.” He framed the victory as the result of a relentless fight to protect Bengal’s soul and identity.
Dr. Saha said the formation of a BJP government in West Bengal marked the arrival of the much‑talked “double‑engine government,” combining the strength of the Centre with what he called the heartbeat of Bengal, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his blessings. He also acknowledged the leadership of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president Nitin Nabin.
Highlighting the broader significance of the day, Dr. Saha noted that the oath-taking coincided with Rabindranath Tagore’s birth anniversary and described the timing as culturally meaningful. Quoting Tagore — “When religion calls with the sound of the conch, pledge your life in silence and humility” — he said the poet’s words had resonated in his birthplace on this occasion.
Invoking the legacy of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Dr. Saha said the long struggle against perceived injustice had reached fulfillment in what he called “Shyama Prasad’s Bengal.” He expressed confidence that under Suvendu Adhikari’s leadership the new government would deliver peace, development and a prosperous, “Vikshit Bangla.”
