CM Pema Khandu Champions Holistic Education & Youth Empowerment
Itanagar — Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday described the Arunachal Panorama as a “unique platform” that promotes cultural unity and stressed the need for holistic education and youth empowerment as he inaugurated the ninth edition of the festival at Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) in Doimukh’s Rono Hills campus.
Speaking to students, faculty and dignitaries, Khandu said the flagship cultural and youth festival both celebrates Arunachal Pradesh’s rich diversity and fosters unity among its many tribes and communities. He highlighted the event’s role in bringing different traditions together in a single, engaging forum for young people.
Recalling that the festival began in 2006 under former Vice-Chancellor Professor Atul Sharma, the chief minister lauded RGU for sustaining the Panorama as a meaningful tradition that showcases the cultural expressions of the state’s tribes and sub-tribes. He commended students, artists and mentors for presenting a vibrant programme — including fusion performances of traditional dances — and said such platforms help convey the diversity of more than 26 major tribes in a cohesive, accessible way for the next generation.
Reflecting on RGU’s evolution since its founding in 1984, Khandu noted the university’s contribution to building the state’s human resources, with alumni playing roles across governance, politics, business, technology and public service. He framed the festival as an important bridge between heritage and youth development, underlining its significance for cultural continuity and social cohesion in Arunachal Pradesh.
