Security forces recovered a cache of arms and explosives in Churachandpur district and destroyed five illegal bunkers in Kangpokpi district during separate operations on April 28, officials said. The coordinated actions were carried out as part of ongoing security measures to maintain law and order in vulnerable hill areas of the state.
According to official reports, a search operation was conducted at Maovom village and adjoining areas under Churachandpur Police Station. During the operation, personnel seized one AK-47 rifle, three single‑barrel firearms, one pistol with a magazine, one pompi, two 35 mm grenades and one 81 mm mortar bomb. The recovered arms and explosives were taken into custody for further investigation and legal action, officials added.
In a separate operation on the same day, security forces dismantled five illegal bunkers located under Saikul Police Station in Kangpokpi district. The structures destroyed included one bunker at Tingpibung village, three bunkers on Lungter Hill and one at Leplen village, authorities said.
Officials described the operations as part of sustained area‑domination exercises and search-and-seizure drives aimed at preventing unlawful activity and strengthening security in fringe and vulnerable areas. Further investigations and patrols in the affected zones are continuing, they said.
