APCC Visits Chirang Strong Room: Confident of Assam Poll Win
Chirang, April 26 — A delegation from the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) visited the strong room at Upendra Nath Brahma College in Kajalgaon on Saturday to inspect post-poll arrangements and review the security of stored electronic voting machines (EVMs). The visit was part of the party’s effort to monitor election material and ensure proper safeguards after the recently concluded Assam Assembly elections.
The delegation was led by APCC vice-president and senior spokesperson Mehdi Alam Bora, who said the Congress is giving “equal importance to the Bodoland Territorial Region” (BTR) alongside the rest of Assam. He told reporters the party has assigned leaders to visit strong rooms across BTR districts to assess the situation following polling.
Bora said the team had inspected Kokrajhar the previous day and checked Chirang on Saturday; he added that inspections of Baksa and Tamulpur are planned next. He stressed that the party has treated the Assembly election with utmost seriousness to ensure no effort is wasted and to maintain confidence in the post-poll process.
Referring to grassroots participation, Bora noted that Congress workers in the Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD) actively took part in the elections, mirroring engagement seen elsewhere in Assam. Claiming strong prospects for the party statewide, he said the Congress is hopeful of winning five seats in the BTR and expressed confidence that the party will form the next state government.
The delegation included APCC Tribal Cell president Sohen Brahma; APCC secretaries Dr. Bhawana Nath and Umesh Deka; Sidli-Chirang candidate Motilal Narzary; Bijni candidate Rajat Kanti Saha; and several leaders of the Chirang District Congress Committee. The team reviewed security arrangements at the strong room to ensure the EVMs remain safely stored pending further electoral procedures.
