Neetu Chandra on Aakhri Sawal: Chasing Unforgettable Stories
Mumbai, April 25 — Actress Neetu Chandra, who has been in the film industry for nearly 23 years, says her approach to choosing projects has changed: she no longer chases roles but seeks “stories that stay with you.” She highlighted Aakhri Sawal as an example of the kind of film that now draws her in; the movie, which features Sanjay Dutt, is slated for release on May 15.
“Over the years, my perspective has evolved. I don’t chase roles anymore, I chase stories that stay with you,” Neetu said, adding that she is drawn to work that lingers with the audience. “It’s not just cinema, it’s a question that lingers long after the lights go out. Being part of something so intense and thought-provoking feels far more meaningful than simply being in the spotlight,” she said.
Neetu described collaborating with National Award–winning director Abhijeet Mohan Warang and sharing the screen with Sanjay Dutt as “nothing short of transformative,” calling the experience a journey of learning, growth and rediscovery.
Aakhri Sawal also stars Amit Sadh, Namashi Chakraborty, Sameera Reddy and Tridha Choudhury. The film is directed by Abhijeet Mohan Warang, who made his directorial debut with the Marathi drama Picasso (2021) and received a Special Mention at the 67th National Film Awards.
Warang’s body of work spans Marathi and Hindi projects, including Deja Vu, Prem Pratha Dhumshan, Piccolo and the short film Virtual Reality. Aakhri Sawal reportedly traces the 100-year journey of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, an organisation founded in 1925 by Keshav Baliram Hedgewar.
The film is presented by Nikhil Nanda and Dhanraj Nathwani, produced by Nikhil Nanda and Sanjay Dutt, and co-produced by Puneet Nanda, Dr. Deepak Singh, Gaurav Dubey and Ujjwal Anand. IANS
