ADG BSF Reviews Border Security in Tripura

Agartala, 12th July 2024: Additional Director General (ADG) of BSF (Eastern Command) Kolkata, Ravi Gandhi, commenced a two-day visit to Frontier HQ, Tripura, on July 12. The primary focus of his visit was to review the prevailing security scenario and discuss operational aspects of border management, particularly measures to prevent the illegal migration of Bangladeshi nationals.
Upon arrival, ADG Gandhi received a warm welcome from IG BSF Tripura, Patel Piyush Purusottam Das, IPS, and other senior officers. The welcome ceremony included a guard of honor, after which IG Das briefed the ADG on the general security situation along the Indo-Bangladesh border. During this briefing, he highlighted the challenges faced by troops on the ground and the steps taken to counter illegal migration.
In addition to internal discussions, ADG Gandhi had a high-level meeting with Tripura’s Chief Minister, Dr. Prof Manik Saha, Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar Sinha, IAS, and DGP Tripura Police, Amitabh Ranjan, IPS. They deliberated on the current security concerns, and the ADG shared information on various measures being adopted by the BSF, emphasizing technological solutions for border control and actions to mitigate illegal crossings from Bangladesh.
The visit also included an in-depth interaction between the ADG and field officers, addressing ground-level issues and challenges. As part of his itinerary, ADG Gandhi, along with the IG Tripura Frontier, planned visits to border areas to assess the situation firsthand and hold meetings with field commanders.
Overall, the visit underscored the BSF’s commitment to enhancing border security and addressing migration challenges through strategic planning and advanced technology.
