An altercation between two factions of the right-wing group Karni Sena resulted in a shootout in Rajasthan on Friday. The incident occurred in the upscale Chitrakoot area of Jaipur. Mahipal Singh Makrana of Karni Sena was reportedly attacked by the gunman of Shiv Singh Shekhawat from Rashtriya Karni Sena. In response, Shekhawat claims that Makrana’s men fired at him first.
The confrontation took place at Shekhawat’s office, where a meeting quickly escalated into abusive exchanges. The exact cause of the conflict remains unclear. Videos from the scene show an injured Makrana slumped on a sofa with a bloodied face. He was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Recalling the incident, Shiv Singh Shekhawat stated, “We were sitting in my office when four men entered, claiming they wanted to meet me. A few days ago, Makrana had threatened me, and I also received a threat call from Pakistan. The men began abusing me and suddenly opened fire. My gunman returned fire. You can see the blood mark on my hand.”
The situation underscores the escalating tension within the Karni Sena factions, raising concerns over the potential for further violence. Authorities are investigating the incident.
