LinkedIn Names Insider Daniel Shapero CEO — Game-Changing Move
Microsoft-owned LinkedIn has named Chief Operating Officer Daniel Shapero as its new chief executive officer, replacing Ryan Roslansky in a leadership change effective immediately. The move, announced by the company, places a long-serving LinkedIn executive at the helm as the platform aims to deepen its role in an AI-driven transformation of work and careers.
Shapero joined LinkedIn in 2008 as general manager for the LinkedIn Research Network and rose through product and operations roles before becoming COO. The company described the promotion as tapping a veteran leader to guide LinkedIn through changes driven by artificial intelligence and shifting employer and member needs.
LinkedIn, which reports having more than 1.3 billion members, has become an increasingly important business unit within Microsoft, accounting for about 6.3% of Microsoft’s annual revenue in 2025. The platform’s scale and data have positioned it as a focal point for tools and services aimed at workforce reskilling, hiring and professional development in an AI-influenced labor market.
Outgoing CEO Ryan Roslansky commented on the broader shift, saying, “AI is going to transform how people work and grow in their careers faster than most people expect.” The company signaled that the leadership changes are part of a strategic push to accelerate product development and platform integration around those trends.
In a concurrent appointment, LinkedIn named Mohak Shroff president of Platforms & Digital Work, a role that will oversee platform strategy and digital workplace offerings as the company expands services tied to AI-driven career and productivity tools.
