Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, inaugurated and laid the foundation for development projects worth Rs 196.44 crore in Riga village, Siang district, aimed at improving basic facilities and civic amenities in remote areas. The package covers roads, education, government facilities and public services, officials said, and is intended to address long-standing infrastructure gaps in the district.

Speaking at the event, Khandu announced plans to upgrade roads in Riga, construct a circuit house and build a district stadium, stressing the government’s focus on extending development to far-flung communities. He also laid foundations for staff quarters, a community hall at New Hiram, a women’s police station at Pangin and a cultural hall at Pegging Botte.

Education-focused works in the announcement include construction of hostels, classrooms, academic and administrative buildings, and staff quarters at schools in Pangin and Boleng. The package also provides for boundary walls, assembly sheds, toilets and mid-day meal infrastructure to improve school facilities and student welfare.

Road investments cover improvement of town roads in Boleng and Pangin under a state scheme, and the first phase of the Yibuk–Lising road. The plan also includes staff quarters and campus development at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Awasiya Vidyalaya in Rottung, and construction of 100-bed hostels across districts under a government scheme.

Khandu inaugurated several completed works during the visit, including an Industrial Training Institute at Pangin, a double-lane concrete road linking BRTF Rengo Road to the district hospital in Boleng, a Bailey bridge over the Subbung river on the Dosing–Pareng–Yibuk route, and a fire station at Boleng. He urged officials to ensure strong coordination between departments so that the benefits of these projects reach people promptly.
