Heartbreaking: Mother Shockingly Arrested for Alleged Daughter’s Murder in Namakkal, Tamil Nadu
A tragic incident unfolded in Namakkal district, Tamil Nadu, where a 22-year-old woman, identified as M. Sneha, allegedly killed her four-year-old daughter Poovarasi with the assistance of her sister, Gokila, on the evening of Sunday, September 1, 2024. Sneha, originally from Gandhipuram near Senthamangalam, and her husband Muthaiah, 25, had been residing in Chennai, where Sneha worked as a construction laborer.
The police report revealed that Sneha was involved in an extramarital affair with Sarath, 21, also from Chennai and residing in the same locality in Senthamangalam. The couple eloped to Senthamangalam last week, but Sarath’s parents disapproved of their relationship. Consequently, Sneha relocated with her daughter to her uncle’s residence in Paramathi Velur.
On Sunday evening, Sneha allegedly collaborated with her sister Gokila to throw young Poovarasi into a farm well situated on her uncle’s property. Alarmed by the commotion, local residents rushed to the scene and recovered the child’s body from the well. The incident was promptly reported to the police, who responded swiftly by arriving at the scene and sending the body to Paramathi Velur government hospital for a postmortem examination.
The police have registered a case and arrested both Sneha and Gokila in connection with the incident. The community has been left in shock, grappling with the horrific nature of the crime. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading to this tragic event.
