Bhosle’s passing on April 12, 2023, was confirmed by Dr. Pratit Samdani from Breach Candy Hospital, where she had been admitted due to severe fatigue and a chest infection. Dr. Samdani noted that she passed away from multi-organ failure. Her family had requested privacy during this challenging period and her granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, confirmed her hospitalization on social media.
At 92, Asha Bhosle leaves behind an unparalleled legacy, having been part of the musical landscape for over eight decades. She is the younger sister of the legendary Lata Mangeshkar and is celebrated for her extraordinary versatility, effortlessly navigating between romantic ballads, ghazals, and upbeat compositions. Some of her most beloved tracks include “Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar,” “In Ankhon Ki Masti,” “Dil Cheez Kya Hai,” “Piya Tu Ab To Aaja,” “Duniya Mein Logon Ko,” and “Zara Sa Jhoom Loon Main.”
Throughout her illustrious career, Bhosle is credited with recording over 12,000 songs across multiple Indian languages.
