Assam’s Deaf Students Triumph in HSLC 2026 — Guwahati Celebrates
Students from Uttar Pub Divyang Uchchatar Madhyamik Vidyalaya in Gopinath Nagar, Birubari, Guwahati, have recorded notable success in the HSLC Examination 2026, bringing pride to Assam’s deaf community. Two first-time candidates, Bitumoni Das and Pragati Baruah, secured first division with letter marks, while a third student, Arnab Jyoti Kalita, passed in the second division. The results have been hailed as a significant achievement for the school and its pupils.
The school, which is run by the Assam Association of the Deaf, fielded these candidates in their first HSLC appearance. “First division with letter marks” indicates strong individual performance under the secondary-level grading system, reflecting the students’ hard work and the support they received from teachers and the association.
School staff, members of the wider deaf community, and local residents celebrated the results, noting the broader importance of inclusive education and specialised support for students with hearing impairment. Educators at the institution said the outcome underscores the potential of tailored teaching methods and community backing in improving academic access and outcomes.
The achievement comes against the backdrop of the statewide HSLC 2026 results, which reported a 65.62% pass rate and Dima Hasao district topping the list. For the Uttar Pub Divyang Uchchatar Madhyamik Vidyalaya, the performance of Das, Baruah and Kalita offers encouragement for future cohorts and highlights the impact of sustained investment in special-needs education.
