Alert: Chopper Snag Grounds Amit Shah in Dhubri; Backs Sarkar by Phone
A technical snag in Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s helicopter forced the cancellation of his scheduled visit to Golakganj on Friday, but he addressed the crowd by mobile phone, ensuring his message reached the rally. Shah was due to attend a Vijay Sankalp Yatra event aimed at bolstering the NDA’s campaign in Dhubri district ahead of the Assembly elections.
Despite being unable to land, Shah delivered a telephonic address to thousands of supporters gathered at the venue. Organisers relayed his remarks from the stage and amplified the call so attendees could hear his appeal.
During the call, Shah strongly backed BJP candidate Ashwini Roy Sarkar, urging voters to secure his victory. He described Sarkar, a former MLA from the constituency, as a committed leader who understands local needs and can drive development.
“I am physically absent today due to a technical snag, but my support for Ashwini Roy Sarkar and the people of Dhubri is unwavering,” Shah said, appealing for a decisive mandate to accelerate development in the region.
The rally continued after the call, with local BJP leaders and the candidate carrying on campaign activities on the ground. Party organisers presented the telephonic outreach as evidence of their determination to connect with voters despite unforeseen challenges.
The episode highlighted the party’s efforts to keep campaign momentum even when planned in-person appearances are disrupted, and underscored the role of remote communication in reaching large audiences during electioneering.
