Nagaland Triumphs: Bags Three Medals at Khelo India Tribal Games 2026
Nagaland ended its campaign at the Khelo India Tribal Games 2026 with three athletics medals — one gold, one silver and one bronze — marking a respectable showing for the northeastern state. The medals came from distance and sprint events, with a 10-member contingent representing Nagaland across track and field competitions.
Wede T Mero topped the state’s tally by winning gold in the men’s 10,000 metres. He ran a measured race, holding a steady pace for much of the distance before accelerating in the final stretch to secure victory, a performance that highlighted his endurance and race discipline.
In the sprints, Rüduolhounuo Rachel Belho captured silver in the women’s 100 metres. Her race stood out for quick, consistent acceleration and closing speed, placing her among the event’s leading sprinters and underscoring Nagaland’s strength beyond distance events.
The third podium finish came from Tsuchoi T, who earned bronze in the women’s 5,000 metres. She produced a determined effort in a tightly contested race to claim a spot on the podium, adding valuable depth to the state’s medal haul.
Nagaland’s 10-member team showed steady progress and competitive spirit against a strong field. The results are expected to boost athlete confidence in the state and encourage broader participation and development in future editions of the Khelo India Tribal Games.
