চাঞ্চল্যকৰ অভিযান: মানৱ অংগৰ ভয়ংকৰ জালত চিকিৎসকসহ ৬ গ্ৰেপ্তাৰ
Police in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, said they have dismantled an interstate kidney trafficking ring with links to Nepal and arrested six people, including doctors, in a major operation. According to police sources, the network had been luring poor and vulnerable people with promises of large sums of money, then surgically removing their kidneys and selling the organs for profit. Preliminary investigations indicate the racket operated for a long period before being exposed.
Acting on a tip-off, Kanpur police launched a targeted raid that uncovered records connecting the ring to several cities across India as well as to contacts in neighbouring Nepal. Officers allege that some of the arrested medical practitioners prepared forged documents and performed the illegal procedures in hospital settings under covert arrangements. Police say detailed questioning of the six detainees is under way to establish the full extent of the network and the roles played by each accused.
Sources added that investigators are trying to determine whether victims were brought from Nepal into India for the surgeries or whether Nepali medical facilities or networks were used to facilitate the trade. Forensic examinations, owner and hospital record probes, and cell-phone and financial data are being examined to trace other members and transactions linked to the syndicate.
The bust has caused widespread shock across Kanpur and other parts of Uttar Pradesh, raising public concern over the exploitation of the poor by people posing as medical professionals. Local authorities have ordered a high-level inquiry and assured strict legal action against those involved. Police said they will continue raids and wider investigations until all operatives in the organ supply chain are apprehended and the victims receive appropriate support.
