Brave Delhi Police Captures Lashkar-e-Taiba Commander Shabbir Ahmed Lone Near Bangladesh Border: A Victory Against Terrorism!
Delhi Police’s Special Cell has successfully apprehended Shabbir Ahmed Lone, a commander of the militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba, near the Bangladesh border. Sources indicate that Lone was operating a Lashkar cell from a hideout in close proximity to Dhaka, a significant development that has garnered the attention of security agencies.
This operation, closely monitored by Police Commissioner Satish Golcha, marked the culmination of a meticulous two-month pursuit. A dedicated team led by Additional Commissioner of Police Pramod Kushwaha, Assistant Commissioner Lalit Negi, and Inspector Sunil Rajain coordinated the arrest, following intelligence regarding Lone’s involvement in recruiting young people for terrorist activities targeting areas including Delhi, Kolkata, and Tamil Nadu.
Shabbir Ahmed Lone previously faced terror charges and was arrested in 2007. After being granted bail in 2019, he fled to Bangladesh, where he became a pressing concern for major security agencies, including Delhi’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). His activities in Bangladesh, particularly the establishment of a terror cell, further complicated the efforts of law enforcement to contain his influence.
However, Lone is not the only figure of interest to Indian security agencies. They are currently intensifying their search for Sheikh Sajjad Gul, who was arrested in 2002 at Nizamuddin station in Delhi and subsequently imprisoned in Tihar Jail for over a decade after his conviction in 2003. Following his release in 2017, Gul fled to Pakistan and has now taken the lead in Lashkar’s new faction, The Resistance Front (TRF). This group has been linked to several terrorist attacks, including the notorious Pahalgam assault.
As the investigation continues, both Lone and Gul represent significant threats to national security, prompting a united response from various security agencies to combat these militant networks. Authorities remain vigilant, understanding that eradicating such threats requires multilayered strategies and extensive collaboration.
This recent development underscores the ongoing challenges facing Indian law enforcement as they navigate an evolving terrorism landscape, particularly with individuals who have deep-rooted associations in organized militant structures.
