CIHCS seeks a senior scholar-administrator to lead its work on Himalayan culture, research and academic programmes. Applicants should hold a doctorate in Buddhist Studies/Buddhist Philosophy, Sociology, Ancient Indian History and Culture, or Social Anthropology from a recognized university, or possess a traditional monastic degree considered equivalent to a doctorate in Buddhist studies. Candidates must demonstrate a strong record of research and publications in respected national or international journals or as acknowledged books in their field.
Further essential requirements include a minimum of ten years’ teaching experience at the degree level in a recognised university or institution and at least three years of administrative experience in a responsible senior position. Applicants must be fluent in both written and spoken Hindi and English. Desirable qualifications include academic or professional experience related to Himalayan culture and fluency in the Bhoti language.
