Himanta Calls Poll ‘Completely One-Sided’ — Manifesto Coming Soon
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on March 23 that the upcoming state election is “completely one-sided” and predicted a historic victory for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), telling reporters there is “almost no opposition” and that the electorate has already made up its mind.
Sarma repeated his assessment directly to the media, saying, “This is a completely one-sided election. There is almost no opposition, and the BJP is going to have a historic victory.” His remarks framed the contest as heavily tilted in favour of the incumbent party.
The chief minister also announced that the BJP’s election manifesto would be released in the next two to three days, a document he said would set out the party’s “vision and commitments for the coming term.” Given his March 23 statement, the manifesto is therefore expected between March 25 and March 26.
The manifesto’s publication will mark a formal outline of the BJP’s promises and policy priorities ahead of the vote and is likely to shape campaign messaging in the final stretch. Sarma’s comments underline the ruling party’s confidence, but his assessment did not include responses from opposition parties or independent observers.
As campaigning continues, voters and political analysts will watch the manifesto for concrete proposals and timelines tied to the BJP’s claim of a decisive mandate.
