Empowered Voices: O. Panneerselvam Declares I and EPS as CMs, Celebrating Stalin’s People-Powered Victory!
Former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam made significant remarks during a DMK campaign event in Kalayarkoil, Sivaganga district, asserting that both he and Edappadi K. Palaniswami were “appointed” Chief Ministers, in contrast to M. K. Stalin, who he described as the only leader genuinely elected by the people. Panneerselvam highlighted Stalin’s governance, crediting him for providing unbiased leadership over the past five years. He emphasized that Stalin’s visionary initiatives have propelled Tamil Nadu’s economic growth to 11%, significantly surpassing India’s national average of below 8%.
Panneerselvam pointed out the disparity in tax revenue distribution, stating that the Central Government returns a mere 4% of the tax collected from Tamil Nadu. Despite this financial challenge, he commended Stalin for effectively implementing both Central and State schemes, particularly benefiting women and promoting industrial growth in southern districts, an area previously sidelined in favor of northern and western regions.
Addressing the current state of the AIADMK, Panneerselvam reflected on its decline, attributing it to the “dictatorial and arrogant” behavior of Palaniswami. He remarked on the party’s grim prospects, declaring, “Palaniswami thought only he should be the CM and General Secretary,” which he believes has led to the party’s demise. He described AIADMK’s condition as a farce, bolstered by the actions of ministers like C.V. Shanmugam and Dindigul C. Sreenivasan, who have contributed to its downfall.
In a notable comparison, Panneerselvam clarified that history will remember leaders like Anna, Karunanidhi, MGR, Jayalalithaa, and Stalin as those elected by the people, contrasting them with himself and Palaniswami. He praised Stalin for continuing the legacy of protecting social justice and expressed a desire for him to remain Chief Minister, asserting that he is positioned to leave a lasting impact on history.
Later, when speaking to reporters, Panneerselvam expressed his conviction that M. K. Stalin has a bright prospect of returning as Chief Minister. He asserted that, in the present political landscape, no party stands qualified to compete against the DMK. He concluded that there is a prevailing sentiment among the populace that the DMK faces no worthy adversary, reinforcing the party’s position ahead of the upcoming elections.
