Another Body Recovered in Assam’s Goalpara Boat Tragedy
Goalpara, Assam – A tragic boat accident on the Brahmaputra River in Simlitola, Goalpara district, has claimed three lives and left two individuals missing. The mishap occurred on Thursday, and the rescue operation led by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has since been in full swing.
Early Thursday, SDRF teams recovered the bodies of Manjit Saha, Gouranga Malakar, and Jit Karmakar. On Friday, another body was retrieved; however, its identity has not yet been confirmed. Authorities are determining whether it belongs to Uday Sarkar or Sujan Malakar, both of whom remain unaccounted for.
The incident unfolded when a boat carrying five passengers capsized in the turbulent river waters. Rescue teams have been working tirelessly to locate the missing individuals and provide closure to the grieving families.
Efforts by the SDRF and other rescue teams are ongoing as they persist in their search operations. The tragedy has cast a somber shadow over the community as they await further updates on the search efforts.
