Govt Lavishes Coveted Posts on Turncoat Politicians Sparking Outrage
Shillong, Aug 30: In a recent political development, former Congress legislators Celestine Lyngdoh and Gabriel Wahlang, who merged with the National People’s Party (NPP), have been appointed as advisers to various state departments.
Celestine Lyngdoh will serve as the Adviser for the Home (Police) and Education departments, while Gabriel Wahlang has been assigned as Adviser to the Mining and Geology, and Public Health Engineering (PHE) departments. Their appointments come with perks and benefits under the "A+" category, effective immediately upon assuming their new roles.
The decision follows their recent transition from the Congress party to the NPP. Despite the significant roles now given to them, both Lyngdoh and Wahlang emphasized that they neither demanded cabinet positions nor were they offered any during their merger discussions. Their primary motivation, they stated, was the aim to foster development and bring progress to their respective constituencies.
This strategic move reflects the ongoing political dynamics in the state, as the NPP strengthens its position by integrating experienced legislators into its framework. The appointments are expected to bolster governance and expedite developmental initiatives in the key departments they will oversee.
