Mumbai, March 17 (IANS) — Netflix on Tuesday released a new trailer for BTS: THE RETURN, the forthcoming documentary that chronicles K-pop supergroup BTS as they prepare their comeback and work on their fifth studio album, Arirang. The streaming service confirmed the film will premiere on Netflix on March 27 and invited viewers to “experience their comeback journey.”
Directed by Bao Nguyen, the 1 minute 43 second trailer shows members RM, V, Jin, Jimin, Suga, Jungkook and J-Hope reuniting after completing mandatory military service and confronting the pressure of returning to the spotlight. Early footage opens with the group greeting viewers — “Welcome to the BTS documentary” — and moves quickly into reflective moments about the challenges of resuming work after a long hiatus.
In voiceover and candid on-camera remarks, the members discuss the weight of their collective identity and the fast-moving music industry. “Being a part of a team like BTS is like wearing a big, incredible crown,” one member says, while another adds, “We’ve been out for too long. Trends shift every season. Standing still isn’t an option.” The trailer also captures the seven preparing and creating music together in Los Angeles, returning to a creative space reshaped by time apart and personal change.
Produced under the banners of This Machine, HYBE and EAST Films, BTS: THE RETURN lists Jane Cha Cutler, Bao Nguyen, R.J. Cutler, Elise Pearlstein, Trevor Smith, Choongeon Lee, Namjo Kim and Se Jun Lee among its producers, with Mark Blatty, Melissa Robledo, Seonjeong Shin, Nicole Kim, Kyewon Suh and James Shin credited as executive producers.
Since their debut in 2013, BTS has built a global, devoted fanbase, and the documentary aims to capture the group’s transition back into collective creativity and public life as they ready themselves for a high-profile comeback.
