Groundbreaking Synergy: Vistara-Air India’s Exciting Merger Takes Flight on November 12
The merger between Vistara and Air India is set to be finalized on November 12, following the Indian government’s approval of Singapore Airlines’ foreign direct investment (FDI) in the deal. From September 3, customers will no longer be able to book Vistara flights for travel beyond November 12, as all Vistara aircraft will be rebranded under the Air India name. Vistara will continue normal operations until November 11.
This merger, first announced in November 2022, aims to strengthen Air India’s position in the global aviation market by combining the fleets and services of two significant players. The approval permits Singapore Airlines to acquire a 25.1% stake in the newly expanded Air India, which is owned by Tata Group.
Currently a joint venture between Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, Vistara will be fully integrated into Air India, marking a major reshaping of India’s aviation landscape. The merger is expected to enhance customer choice, expand service offerings, and improve the overall travel experience for passengers.
Vistara CEO Vinod Kannan and Air India CEO Campbell Wilson have both assured customers of a seamless transition, emphasizing that the integration will proceed smoothly and without disruptions. Updates on the merger and related services will be provided through the airlines’ websites, social media channels, and email communications.
This strategic move will create one of the world’s largest airline groups, offering passengers a broader array of services and solidifying Air India’s competitive stance in the global arena.
