Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, chaired a first-of-its-kind “Mukhyamantri Jan Sambadh” programme at Samman Bhawan in Gangtok aimed at bringing government services to citizens’ doorsteps through the “Connect to CM” platform. The event, held under a video-conferencing format, focused on delivering welfare support to families in the DESME BPL category and other economically weaker sections across the state, the Chief Minister’s Office said in a press release.

The programme linked 34 Block Administrative Centres (BACs) with Samman Bhawan, enabling direct interaction between the Chief Minister, Block Development Officers and beneficiaries from multiple districts. Officials used the sessions to process and approve assistance under several schemes, including the Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Scheme (CMMAS), Chief Minister’s Discretionary Grant (CMDG), Chief Minister’s Self-Employment Assistance Scheme (CMSEAS), Sikkim Garib Awas Yojana (SGAY), land allotments for the landless, the Chief Minister Education Assistance Scheme (CMEAS), and potential government employment opportunities.

According to the CMO release, beneficiaries were chosen after a rigorous and transparent verification process to ensure aid reaches the most deserving households. The Chief Minister assured those present that official orders and benefits would be delivered at their respective BACs within a week, removing the need for beneficiaries to travel long distances to government offices.

Tamang-Golay said the initiative is intended to cut administrative hurdles, reduce public expenses, and make government services more accessible at the grassroots. The CMO added that similar Mukhyamantri Jan Sambadh programmes will be organised every two months to improve transparency, strengthen service delivery, and empower citizens statewide. The “Connect to CM” platform, launched on 14 October 2025, continues to serve as a direct channel for citizens to raise grievances, seek assistance and obtain timely government responses, the release noted.
