NEC Urges Faster Coordination for Timely Tripura Project Completion
Members of the North Eastern Council (NEC) recently visited Tripura to review the implementation of projects funded under its initiatives, focusing on progress, inter-agency coordination and timely completion of works across the state. The visit included site assessments and meetings with local authorities to monitor delivery and resolve bottlenecks on the ground.
NEC officials held review meetings with the National Projects Construction Corporation Limited (NPCC) in Agartala to assess ongoing construction and implementation. Discussions concentrated on project status, coordination between implementing agencies, adherence to quality standards and measures to ensure projects meet their scheduled timelines.
During the visit, officials examined programmes in the education, tourism and agriculture sectors and interacted with Tripura government representatives to evaluate ground-level execution and identify challenges affecting delivery and outcomes.
Earlier in February, the NEC allocated Rs 67,41,09,587 for projects across the northeastern states. In Tripura, this funding has been largely targeted at improving livelihoods through fisheries initiatives and strengthening science education infrastructure.
Key initiatives highlighted include programmes to increase fish productivity and develop the fisheries value chain to generate sustainable livelihood opportunities, and funding for the establishment of a Science Park at the Science Village in Tripura to boost scientific awareness, innovation and hands-on learning for students and young people.
The council has also supported projects related to knowledge exchange, cultural preservation and tourism development, with the ongoing reviews intended to keep implementation on track and ensure benefits reach local communities.
