Amelia Kerr Propels NZ to Top in Latest Women’s ODI Rankings
New Delhi, March 10 — New Zealand captain Amelia Kerr led a strong showing for the White Ferns in the International Cricket Council’s latest women’s rankings after a dominant start to the home ODI series against Zimbabwe, with New Zealand securing an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match contest. Kerr’s all-round impact, particularly with the ball, drove the notable upward movement in the ICC player lists released after the opening matches, according to IANS.
Kerr, 25, took four wickets in the series opener and produced a career-best performance in the second ODI in Dunedin, taking seven wickets in a single innings — only the seventh such feat in women’s ODI history. The effort lifted her five places in the ICC ODI bowlers’ rankings to 11th, while she also climbed one spot to fifth in the all‑rounders’ standings.
New Zealand’s gains were not limited to Kerr. Brooke Halliday vaulted eight places to 11th in the ODI batting rankings after a spectacular unbeaten 157 off 117 balls in the first match, one of the series’ standout knocks. Maddy Green also rose, moving up four places to equal 22nd after compiling 67 in the opener and an unbeaten 27 in the second ODI.
There was movement in the T20I rankings as well following the West Indies–Sri Lanka series. Sri Lanka opener Hasini Perera was a major gainer after an unbeaten half-century in the third and deciding T20I in St George’s, jumping 15 places to 28th among T20I batters. Team-mate Imesha Dulani climbed 17 places to joint 72nd after an unbeaten 34 in the decider.
All‑rounder Kavisha Dilhari enjoyed modest rises across categories, moving up three places to 21st among T20I bowlers and up two spots to 11th in the all‑rounders’ list. For the West Indies, veteran spinner Afy Fletcher was the biggest mover, advancing four places to seventh in the T20I bowlers’ rankings after taking three wickets across the final two matches.
