Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it launched ballistic missiles toward Israeli and U.S. bases on Sunday, releasing footage that identified the weapons as Kheibar Shekan, Emad and Ghadr and described the strikes as the 28th wave of “Operation True Promise 4.” The Guards said the launches were intended to avenge what Tehran has called the assassination of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei at the outset of “Operation Epic Fury” by U.S. and Israeli forces, framing the barrage as part of a sustained retaliatory campaign.
Air-raid sirens were reported in Israel and Qatar as the exchanges continued into the second week of the conflict. Iranian officials say the strikes are ongoing even as U.S. and Israeli forces have carried out counterstrikes, including an attack on oil depots in Tehran that sent thick black smoke over the capital, according to the report.
Analysts and officials cited in the account underline that Iran’s missile inventory gives Tehran reach across the region.
