Empowering Aluva: Extended Late-Hour Services from Pink Protection Project for Your Safety and Peace of Mind
The police’s ‘Pink Protection Project’ aimed at enhancing women’s safety will be operational from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. in and around Aluva town, according to District Police Chief K.S. Sudarshan. This announcement was made during the inauguration of the ‘Nirbhaya Nisha’ initiative, which took place on March 8 as part of the International Women’s Day celebrations.
The ‘Nirbhaya Nisha’ project is a statewide initiative designed to provide swift police assistance and bolster security for women traveling late at night. Mr. Sudarshan emphasized the importance of this initiative in ensuring the safety and well-being of women in the community.
To mark the occasion, Sudarshan, together with Aluva municipal chairperson Saiji Jolly and actress Aditi Ravi, kicked off a night walk that attracted over 200 participants. The event aimed to raise awareness about women’s safety and encourage active community involvement in maintaining secure environments for women.
In addition to this initiative, the Kochi city police organized various activities, including a women’s walk from Ernakulam boat jetty to the rainbow bridge at Marine Drive, as part of the ‘Nirbhaya Nisha’ project. These initiatives reflect a concerted effort by law enforcement to foster a safer atmosphere for women and reinforce community solidarity.
