Agriculture Minister Launches 3MT Organic Kaalikhasa Harinarayan Paddy
Agartala, 6 March 2026 — Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath and Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma today flagged off a 3‑metric‑ton consignment of organic Kaalikhasa and Harinarayan paddy bound for Kolkata from Agartala Railway Station, saying the state government is focused on raising agricultural production and exports to boost farmers’ incomes.
The shipment, sent on 6 March 2026, comprises 2.5 MT of Kaalikhasa and 0.5 MT of Harinarayan paddy. The export is being handled by Sublime Gourmet Private Limited with support from two farmer producer companies (FPCs): Bosong Group of Tulasikhar in Khowai and Thansa Farmers Organisation from Gomati district.
Nath said the state administration has prioritized forming and strengthening FPCs since taking office. He described FPCs as local organizations that unite farmers, help secure better prices for produce and link growers to markets and buyers beyond the state.
The minister added the paddy is being exported in part to preserve its fragrance and quality for a longer period. He noted market prices at around Rs 55 per kg but said farmers participating through the FPCs are receiving Rs 70 per kg. “Our main goal is that farmers should get the maximum benefit. We all should stand beside them, and our state government is fully supporting farmers. Our ultimate target is higher production and exports so that farmers can benefit more,” Nath said.
Officials said the move is part of broader efforts to increase agricultural output and work toward doubling farmers’ incomes while ensuring sustainable development in the sector.
