Manipur CM N Biren Singh Slams Mamata Banerjee: Fierce Defense Against Northeast Threat!
Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has fiercely condemned West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her recent remarks about the Northeast region. Singh labeled Banerjee’s comments as “irresponsible” and “highly unbecoming of a political leader.”
Expressing his outrage, Singh stated, “How dare Didi threaten the Northeast? I condemn such irresponsible remarks in the strongest terms. She must publicly apologize to the Northeast and the rest of the nation.” Singh reacted to what he described as incendiary comments from Banerjee, accusing her of attempting to incite hate and violence.
Singh urged Banerjee to stop “inciting violence and hatred with divisive politics,” insisting that no leader should engage in such actions. He demanded an immediate cessation of what he called “threats of violence” from public platforms.
The controversy erupted on August 28 following remarks by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who accused Banerjee of making provocative statements equating the ongoing Kolkata protests with potential unrest in Assam and Delhi. Sarma criticized Banerjee’s “politics of failure,” warning that her actions were aimed at creating instability in India. “Didi, how dare you threaten Assam? Don’t show us your bloodshot eyes. Don’t try to set India on fire with your divisive politics. Such language does not suit a leader like you,” Sarma tweeted.
Supporting Sarma’s stance, senior Assam BJP leader Piyush Hazarika condemned Banerjee’s comments, asserting that she “can’t bully or threaten us” and highlighting her struggles with law and order in her own state.
Union Minister and Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar also weighed in, suggesting that Banerjee’s statements reflected an “anti-national” sentiment inappropriate for her constitutional role.
Banerjee’s controversial remarks were made during a speech at the foundation day celebration of the Trinamool Congress’s student wing, where she criticized the BJP over the violence during the recent bandh tied to the ‘Nabanna Abhijan’ protest march.
