Chennai Shocker: Govt. Hospital Ward Attendant Arrested for Alarming Sexual Harassment of 55-Year-Old Woman

The R.K. Nagar police have arrested a ward attendant from a local government hospital following allegations of sexual harassment against a 55-year-old woman in Korukkupet. The woman, who lives with her family, has been struggling with severe diabetes and recently underwent surgery that resulted in the amputation of a portion of her right foot. Due to her condition, she has been receiving medical care at home.

Sekar, 58, an attendant at Government Stanley Hospital, was visiting the woman’s residence to change her surgical dressings. On Saturday afternoon, February 22, 2026, during what was meant to be a routine visit, he allegedly harassed her while she was alone at home with her young grandson.

The situation escalated when the woman raised an alarm; according to police reports, Sekar threatened her before fleeing the scene. The incident has understandably shaken the family, prompting the survivor to file a formal complaint at the R.K. Nagar police station.

Police acted swiftly, leading to Sekar’s arrest. He was apprehended at his residence in Kodungaiyur and has since been remanded to judicial custody following interrogation. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter, emphasizing their commitment to ensuring safety and justice for the survivor.
