Manipur CM Pays Tribute to Vungzagin Valte; Meets Family in Delhi
Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on February 21 paid his last respects to late Thanlon MLA Vungzagin Valte at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, shortly after arriving in the national capital. The visit brought the state’s top political executive to Valte’s bedside as family, community leaders and politicians gathered to mourn.
In a solemn gesture, the Chief Minister stood in silence before Valte’s mortal remains and laid floral tributes. He conveyed his deepest condolences to the grieving family and spent nearly ten minutes with them, expressing solidarity and describing the loss as a deeply painful moment for the state.
A prayer service was held for the eternal peace of the departed soul, creating an atmosphere of profound mourning as dignitaries, community leaders and relatives paid their final respects. The service underscored the communal grief and the role Valte played in his constituency and community.
A condolence meeting followed the prayers, attended by MLA Khashim Vashum of Chingai and MLA Ngursanglur Sanate of Tipaimukh, along with relatives of the deceased and prominent leaders of the Zomi community based in Delhi. Their presence reflected cross-regional support and the significance of Valte’s passing for tribal and political circles.
Valte’s death has drawn tributes from political leaders and tribal organisations, marking what many described as a significant loss for Manipur’s political landscape. The condolences and gatherings in Gurugram signal the wider impact of his passing beyond his immediate constituency.
