Assam CM’s Heartfelt Birthday Tribute to Bhutan King Jigme Wangchuck
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday, February 24 extended warm greetings to Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck on the occasion of his 46th birthday, posting his message on X. The note highlighted the close ties between Assam and Bhutan and underlined the importance of ongoing cooperation between the two neighbours.
In a post on X, Sarma wrote: “Warm greetings to His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck on his birthday. Assam and Bhutan share a special bond rooted in history, culture and enduring goodwill. Our close cooperation in trade, connectivity, education and regional security continues to strengthen this unique partnership.”
Sarma emphasised that the relationship between Assam and Bhutan is sustained by historical and cultural links, and that collaboration across key sectors has reinforced mutual goodwill. He also offered a personal wish for the monarch’s well‑being, saying, “May His Majesty be blessed with good health and long life as he leads Bhutan to greater progress and happiness.”
