Devastating Floodwaters from Bangladesh Breach Borders, Submerging Indian Villages in Tripura
Floodwaters from Bangladesh Inundate Villages in Tripura, Causing Extensive Damage
AGARTALA: Floodwaters originating from Bangladesh have crossed into India, triggering severe flooding in the Northeastern state of Tripura.
Several villages in Bangladesh, including Burichong, Shahidul, Panchra, Hyderabad, Shankuchail, Rajapur, Nabiabad, Bhapiradla, and Panchpilar, were initially submerged by floodwaters. After ravaging these areas, the waters flowed toward the Indian border, breaching border gates numbered 184 to 188 in the Buxnagar region.
These surging floodwaters have inundated multiple villages in Tripura, including Kalsimura Nagar, Buxnagar, Dakshinpara, Bagber, and Adampur. Buxnagar has been particularly hard-hit, with numerous homes submerged and water levels continuing to rise alarmingly.
Residents are reminded of a similar flood in 2002 when waters from Bangladesh crossed into Tripura, causing significant destruction. Now, 28 years later, the region is again facing the relentless force of cross-border flooding.
Local authorities are on high alert, thoroughly monitoring the situation and orchestrating relief efforts. Meanwhile, affected residents are battling to protect their properties and livelihoods.
Authorities have urged residents in the affected areas to stay vigilant and take the necessary precautions to ensure safety.
