Breaking: Three Militants Arrested in Manipur Bomb Blast
Security forces in Manipur arrested three militants on February 10, 2026, for their alleged role in a bomb explosion in Imphal West district, the police said. The arrests came after an investigation into a blast that occurred in the Lilong Chajing area on February 7, 2026; police identified the accused as active cadres of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (Apunba). A pistol and ammunition were recovered from the suspects, authorities added.
The three militants were apprehended from separate locations in Imphal West and Imphal East over the two days preceding the police statement (February 8–9, 2026), the release said. Officials gave no further details about the suspects’ identities or any charges filed so far.
The arrests come as security forces have stepped up search-and-combing operations across Manipur since ethnic violence erupted in May 2023 between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities. The intensified operations aim to curb extremist activity and restore order amid recurring incidents of targeted attacks and unrest.
Officials said more than 260 people have been killed and thousands displaced in the prolonged ethnic strife as of February 10, 2026. The bomb blast in Lilong Chajing and the subsequent arrests underscore ongoing security challenges in the state and the fragile situation for civilians affected by the long-running conflict.
