Assam Government Acts: Expels Three Illegal Bangladeshi Immigrants Now
The Assam government has initiated the expulsion of three Bangladeshi nationals identified as illegal immigrants in the Karbi Anglong district, as confirmed by officials on February 7. This directive was enacted under Section 2 of the Immigrants (Expulsion from Assam) Act of 1950, following declarations made by the Foreigners Tribunal (FT) in December that labeled the individuals as illegal.
The expulsion orders, authorized by the District Commissioner, were delivered to the three individuals on Saturday. They are required to leave the country within 24 hours of receiving the notice. The expelled individuals are Md Fakruddin from the Bokajan area and Md Rafiqul Ali and Md Faizul Haque, both from the Manja area within the district.
Authorities have stated that the continued presence of these individuals poses a threat to public interest and internal security in Assam. The expelled immigrants must exit the state through designated routes, including Dhubri, Sribhumi, or South Salmara–Mankachar. Officials have cautioned that failure to comply will result in further actions to enforce their removal from both the state and the country.
