Experience the Joyful Devotion: Nepal Celebrates Krishna Janmashtami with Vibrant Festivities

Nepal is abuzz with festivities as it celebrates Krishna Janmashtami today, an annual event in the month of Bhadra of the Nepali calendar. The occasion marks the birth of Lord Krishna, drawing throngs of devotees to Krishna temples in Patan and Basantapur for traditional Nepali music and dance.

In a significant traditional ceremony, the President of Nepal, Ramchandra Paudel, visited the Krishna temple in Patan Durbar Square to perform Pooja. This act is a customary tradition for the head of state to honor on Krishna Janmashtami.

Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli also extended his heartfelt wishes to all citizens celebrating Krishna Janmashtami and the Gaura Parba festival. Gaura Parba, particularly meaningful in Nepal’s far-western and western regions, venerates the Hindu deities Shiv and Parvati. The festival was marked by a special ceremony at Tundikhel.

Engaging and vibrant, these celebrations underscore Nepal’s rich cultural and religious heritage.
