On Sunday evening, two separate road accidents resulted in fatalities in different parts of the district. In the first incident, Karuppan, 65, from Veeraganur near Thalaivasal, was traveling on his moped from Sokkanur to Veeraganur. Upon reaching Thenkari, he collided with another moped traveling in the opposite direction. The accident involved Manikandan, 48, and Chitra, 46, who were on the other moped. All three individuals sustained severe injuries and were transported to Attur Government Hospital, where Karuppan succumbed to his injuries. The Veeraganur police have registered a case and commenced an investigation into the collision.
In another tragic incident on the same evening, S. Sureshkumar, 28, of Gopalapuram near Attur, lost his life instantly when his two-wheeler collided with a mini-truck near Malliyakarai. The Malliyakarai police have also filed a case and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
These incidents underscore the critical need for increased caution and vigilance on the roads to prevent such devastating outcomes. The local authorities are urging motorists to adhere to traffic regulations strictly to ensure safety for all road users.
