Urgent Update: EPDC Suspends Power Connections in Guwahati!
In the Jalukbari area of Guwahati, a senior official of the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) is facing serious allegations from a local resident. The complainant has accused the official of not only refusing to provide an electricity connection but also of issuing severe threats and causing mental harassment. This incident has stirred significant unrest in the community.
The complainant, Dhanjit Dewanath, stated in a media interaction that he had applied for an electricity connection for his land on July 5 of last year. However, despite more than a year passing, he has yet to receive electricity at his home.
Dewanath clarified that any legal disputes regarding his land have already been resolved, and he possesses a clear ruling from the court in his favor. Nevertheless, he alleged that the Jalukbari Sub-Divisional Officer, Rubul Aloy, has repeatedly harassed him, disregarding the court’s orders.
Most shockingly, Dewanath claims that Aloy openly threatened him with political power, stating that he is associated with the Chief Minister, implying that no one could take action against him. Allegedly, Aloy claimed, “I am a person of the Chief Minister,” suggesting that any punitive measures against him would be impossible due to his influential connections.
This entire ordeal has significantly distressed Dewanath, impacting his social standing. He has emphasized that the official’s behavior has tarnished his reputation. Left with no options, Dewanath has finally registered a formal complaint at the Jalukbari police station. He expressed his deep faith in the country’s legal system and hopes that the police will conduct a thorough investigation into this matter, ensuring he receives justice.
