Shocking Arrest in Delhi: Two Nabbed for Supplying Illegal Arms, Eight Deadly Pistols Recovered
The Delhi police’s special cell apprehended two Uttar Pradesh residents—Arvind Kumar, 45, and Vinod Kumar, 48—for supplying firearms to gangsters in the Delhi-NCR region via social media. Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested the accused on August 19 on Agra Canal Road in Jaitpur as they were about to deliver a consignment of illegal firearms. Eight .32 bore pistols were seized from them.
According to the police, both Arvind and Vinod sourced illegal firearms from Khargone in Madhya Pradesh, charging between ₹12,000 and ₹40,000 per weapon. The authorities had set a trap to capture the suspects after receiving information about their delivery of illicit pistols to gang members.
Vinod, a resident of Hardoi, who has studied up to Class X, entered the illegal arms trade over a decade ago after making connections with arms manufacturers in Madhya Pradesh. He had previously been arrested in 2018 by the special cell, which led to the recovery of a consignment of illicit firearms and ammunition.
Arvind, who has education up to Class 8, had operated an illegal arms manufacturing unit in Pali, Uttar Pradesh. Despite being on bail for an earlier case, he persisted in his arms trafficking activities.
The police noted that the accused mainly communicated with clients, primarily gangsters, through social media platforms. Investigations continue, with efforts underway to apprehend the Madhya Pradesh-based arms manufacturer who supplied the weapons.
With this operation, the special cell aims to curb the distribution of illegal firearms in the Delhi-NCR region and dismantle the supply chain fueling gang activities.
