Gripping Desperation: Hoskote Man’s Sinister Scheme Unveiled in Shocking Hassan Murder for Insurance Fraud
Hassan Police Solve Murder Case Involving Businessman’s Fake Death for Insurance Payout
In a significant breakthrough, Hassan Police have cracked a complex murder case involving a businessman from Hoskote who allegedly killed an unknown individual to fake his own death and claim insurance money.
M. Muniswamy Gowda, 49, from Hoskote in Bengaluru Rural District, and Devendra Nayak, 36, from Lakkavalli hobli in Chikkamagaluru district have been arrested on charges of murder. Hassan Superintendent of Police, Mohammed Sujeetha, disclosed details to the media on Saturday, August 24, 2024, revealing that an incident initially perceived as an accident was, in fact, a premeditated murder.
The incident unfolded on August 13, when Gandasi Police in Arasikere taluk received information regarding a death near Gollarahalli Gate. Shilpa Rani of Hoskote identified the deceased as her husband, Muniswamy Gowda, a tyre shop owner, claiming he had been run over by a truck while changing a flat tire on his car. Consequently, the police registered the case under the Indian Motor Vehicle Act and the BNS Act, based on her statement.
However, subsequent investigations raised suspicions about the case. Interrogation of the truck driver, Devendra Nayak, revealed that Muniswamy Gowda was actually alive and provided information about his location. The police then apprehended him.
Detailed investigations uncovered that Gowda had suffered significant business losses and was struggling with private loans. To alleviate his financial burden, he devised a plan to stage his own death in a purported accident to claim the insurance. Gowda held a Double Accident Benefit (DAB) insurance policy, which promises a double payout to the nominee in case of death by accident. To execute this plan, he murdered an unidentified individual and made it appear as his own demise.
The investigative team, including Raghavendra Prakash, Inspector of Gandasi, Suresh PSI of Banavara, Arathi PSI of Gandasi, and their staff, played a crucial role in unraveling this fraudulent and grisly scheme.
