Delhi Education Minister Denounces Kejriwal’s ‘Teachers Counting Dogs’ Claim: A Heartfelt Call for Accountability!
Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood has called on former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to issue a public apology over misleading claims regarding the assignment of government school teachers for counting stray dogs. In a letter sent to Kejriwal on January 6, 2026, Sood strongly criticized the allegations, asserting that they misrepresent the facts and could destabilize ongoing government initiatives aimed at public safety.
Sood stated, “You have publicly alleged that teachers are being assigned duties related to the counting of stray dogs. These assertions are not only incorrect but also amount to a serious misrepresentation of facts.” He emphasized that the official circular addressing the issue is readily accessible to the public. Despite his pointed remarks, there has been no immediate response from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Highlighting Kejriwal’s extensive experience in administration, Sood remarked, “Given your background as the former Chief Minister of Delhi, your statements cannot be regarded as mere misunderstandings.” He further suggested that these claims seem to be part of a calculated effort to disrupt essential safety initiatives.
Sood characterized this approach as “shoot-and-scoot” politics, where unfounded allegations are made without accountability, contributing to confusion and diminishing public trust. “This style of politics creates avoidable turmoil, undermines public confidence, and disrupts governance,” he stated, asserting that as the Education Minister, he will not allow such tactics to compromise the welfare of students or the operation of schools.
The Minister concluded his letter by demanding accountability from Kejriwal, urging him to apologize publicly to Delhi residents for the dissemination of disinformation. “A responsible political discourse requires restraint, honesty, and respect for schools,” he noted. Sood expressed hope that Kejriwal would refrain from spreading falsehoods in the future and suggested that a public apology would serve as necessary penance for his “shameful act.”
In parallel to this situation, an FIR has been filed by the police following a complaint from the Directorate of Education. The complaint accuses certain users on social media of spreading false claims regarding the supposed involvement of school teachers in counting stray dogs, further complicating the narrative surrounding the issue.
As tensions rise between the Delhi government and the AAP, this ongoing saga highlights the delicate balance of public trust and the critical role of accurate information in governance.
