Maharashtra Bandh Called Off
The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has cancelled its call for a Maharashtra bandh following a ruling by the Bombay High Court. Instead, opposition leaders, including those from the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and Nationalist Congress Party, will hold peaceful demonstrations with black bands around their mouths to protest against the Badlapur school sexual abuse case. Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray confirmed the amendment, expressing disagreement with the court’s decision.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s US visit is in its second day, where he is engaging in high-level discussions with US Secretary of Defence, Austin Lloyd. They are exploring co-development and co-production opportunities under the India-US Defence Industrial Cooperation Roadmap. The visit also highlighted progress in Indo-Pacific Maritime Domain Awareness, a key Quad initiative. Plans were announced to deploy Indian Navy personnel to Combined Task Force 150 headquarters in 2025. Amit Shah’s Anti-Naxal Review in Chhattisgarh
Home Minister Amit Shah is set to review anti-Naxal operations and infrastructure projects in nine states affected by Left Wing Extremism (LWE). The meeting will include top officials from Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Telangana, and West Bengal. The Home Minister will also address cooperation efforts in Chhattisgarh and inaugurate the Raipur Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) office on August 25.
