Unlock Opportunities: Nagaland’s 19 Local Languages Boost Postal Recruitment
The government of Nagaland has officially recognized 19 local languages and dialects for the engagement of Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) within the postal department. This significant announcement was made on Thursday by the Home Department, which emphasized that identifying local languages is essential for meeting the postal department’s requirements for assessing the language proficiency of GDS applicants.
The languages recognized include Angami, Ao, Chang, Chakhesang, Konyak, Khiamniungan, Lotha, Phom, Pochury, Rengma, Sumi, Sangtam, Tikhir, Yimkhiung, Zeliang, Garo, Mikir, Kuki, and Kachari. To facilitate the certification process for proficiency in these languages, deputy commissioners in their respective districts will serve as the certifying authorities.
The notification is set to take effect upon its publication in the Nagaland Gazette, marking an important step in enhancing the linguistic landscape of the region and improving communication within the postal service.
