NPP Revamps Leadership in Manipur: Exciting Changes with New State Chief
National People’s Party (NPP) president Conrad K Sangma announced a significant organizational reset for the party in Manipur as he formally welcomed newly-appointed state unit chief Lorho S Pfoze during a program in Shillong on December 2. Sangma, who is also the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, emphasized the party’s aim to strengthen its political presence in Manipur ahead of crucial electoral cycles. He stated that the new leadership team will be essential in broadening the party’s influence and enhancing coordination across various districts.
During the event, Sangma recognized Rameshwar M Singh as the leader of the legislative party and Loken Singh as the chief whip. He also honored working presidents Noorul Hasan and Janghemlung Panmei for their contributions.
Founded by the late PA Sangma in 2013, the NPP has gradually increased its foothold in Manipur, first gaining significant traction during the 2017 assembly elections and further consolidating its position with multiple wins in 2022.
After the event, Sangma took to Twitter to congratulate Pfoze, expressing confidence that the refreshed leadership team would “serve the people of Manipur with renewed confidence” and will collaborate to advance the party’s mission in the state.
