Mia by Tanishq Unveils Exclusive Jewelry for Hornbill Festival Celebration
Mia by Tanishq is launching an exclusive jewellery collection inspired by Nagaland’s cultural motifs for the Hornbill Festival 2025, marking the brand’s inaugural entry into Northeast India. The fine jewellery line, featuring designs influenced by the Hornbill bird and traditional colour palettes, will debut at the festival on Wednesday before becoming available on the brand’s website.
Ajay Maurya, Product and Marketing Head of Mia by Tanishq, expressed excitement about participating in the Hornbill Festival, stating that the collaboration aligns with Mia’s design philosophy and appreciation for cultural heritage. He noted, “This is our first time in the Northeast, and what excites us most is the region’s strong design culture and its deep affinity for jewellery. The Hornbill Festival provides a platform to experience the culture firsthand and showcase what the brand has to offer.”
Maurya described the festival as a “stepping stone” for establishing deeper connections with local communities, with plans for a retail presence in Nagaland already in motion. To commemorate its debut, Mia will reveal a series of fine jewellery pendants inspired by the Hornbill bird, traditional sickles, and feathers, each closely tied to Naga identity. The collection will feature colors like black, white, red, and green, reminiscent of the vibrant traditional attire of Nagaland.
He highlighted the significant love for jewellery in Nagaland, attributed to the bold and expressive styles embraced by local women. Maurya emphasized that the Hornbill Festival is an ideal opportunity for Mia by Tanishq to deepen its understanding of local culture while introducing its design sensibilities.
Mia by Tanishq aims to cater to the growing trend of modern, everyday-wear jewellery. As part of its initiatives at the Hornbill Festival, Mia is collaborating with influencers in style and music, including Imnaienla and biker-creator Onen Nenty. Maurya emphasized that Mia’s offerings extend beyond gold, including silver, diamonds, platinum, and colored stones, designed to provide vibrant, versatile options. With price points ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 30,000, the brand seeks to attract young buyers interested in design and affordability.
While the specific prices of the new collection remain unannounced, Maurya assured that the silver pieces will maintain a budget-friendly focus, particularly appealing to Gen Z. Furthermore, Mia by Tanishq is open to collaborating with local Naga jewelers and designers, recognizing the importance of cultural appreciation in meaningful partnerships. He reinforced that while the Hornbill Festival is well-known, it is equally vital to celebrate the individuals and local brands that inspire women across Nagaland.
Mia is also exploring connections in sports and other areas where women from the Northeast excel. “Style and music go hand in hand, but we’re also looking at spaces where women are bringing laurels to the nation. Our purpose is to support young women shaping India’s cultural and creative identity,” Maurya stated.
With the Hornbill Festival set to be the launch platform, the special collection will soon be available on Mia’s website. “We’re starting from ground zero here,” Maurya concluded. “What we hope for is relatability, love, and a long, meaningful journey ahead.”
