Security Forces Capture 5 KCP (PWG) Cadres in Manipur’s Imphal Districts
Security forces have apprehended five active members of the Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group) [KCP (PWG)] during separate operations in the Imphal East and Imphal West districts on November 26 and 27. On November 26, three individuals were detained from their homes in Imphal East. They have been identified as Md. Ayub Khan, alias Thoiba (28), from Hiyangthang Tarahei Konjil in Imphal West but residing near Public Hospital in Hatta; Md. Salim (35) from Kairang Mamang Leikai; and Md. Ali (46), who also lives near Public Hospital, Hatta.
Officials report that these three individuals were actively involved in extortion activities targeting the general public, petrol pump owners, private educational institutions, and government colleges in the Imphal East area. Security personnel seized one KCP (PWG) receipt and two mobile phones during the arrests.
In a related operation on November 27, security forces arrested another active member of the banned group, identified as Khulem Robindro Singh (36), from Luker Mayai Leikai under the Patsoi Police Station in Imphal West. His arrest from home was linked to his alleged role in recruiting local youths for the outlawed organization. An Aadhaar card was recovered from him during the operation.
On the same day, another cadre, Yumnam Chandra Singh, alias Baby (42), was arrested from his home in Kontha Ahallup Makha Leikai under the Heingang Police Station in Imphal East. From him, security forces found two No. 36 high-explosive grenades, a mobile phone, and an Aadhaar card.
Officials stated that investigations are ongoing to uncover the wider network of the arrested individuals, part of the continued effort to dismantle insurgent operations across Manipur.
