Heart-Wrenching Revelation: Mukesh Khanna Opens Up About ICU-Like Setup for Dharmendra as His Body Tragically Gave Up

Actor Mukesh Khanna recently opened up about his poignant final meeting with veteran star Dharmendra, recalling the emotional atmosphere at the actor’s home shortly after his discharge from the hospital. Khanna revealed that an ICU-like setup had been arranged within the residence, as loved ones hoped for Dharmendra’s recovery.

In a heartfelt video shared on his YouTube channel, Mukesh recounted the visit, which took place just five or six days prior. “I had gone to their home right after he was brought back from the hospital. I understood that I wouldn’t get to meet him properly, but I felt it was vital to be there,” Mukesh expressed. During this visit, he also had the opportunity to meet Dharmendra’s sons, Sunny and Bobby Deol. He provided them with words of encouragement: “I told them, ‘He is very strong. He will come out of this… he will get through this problem.’ However, whatever God wills is what happens.”

Despite widespread hopes for recovery, Mukesh reflected on the shock felt by many when Dharmendra’s health deteriorated. “People believed he was strong enough to recover. His body gave up, but the soul moves on. And he had a beautiful soul.” The famed “Shaktimaan” actor spoke fondly of the memories they shared, particularly their time working together on the film “Tahalka.” He emphasized that Dharmendra’s greatest qualities were his simplicity and humility, which remained evident even during his final months, as his face radiated positivity despite his suffering.

Dharmendra passed away at age 89 on November 24, just weeks shy of his 90th birthday on December 8. He had been battling health issues and was hospitalized on November 10 before being discharged to recuperate at home. His cremation took place in Mumbai on November 25, attended by family, friends, and numerous luminaries from the film industry, including Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Salim Khan, and Shah Rukh Khan, all of whom came to pay their last respects.

In honor of the beloved actor, a prayer meet titled “Celebration of Life” was hosted by the Deol family in Mumbai on Thursday. The event drew a notable crowd, with stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Rekha, and Aishwarya Rai among those present to honor Dharmendra’s legacy.

Mukesh Khanna, with his heartfelt reflections on their friendship and the larger-than-life persona of Dharmendra, has conveyed the impact the veteran actor had on those around him. As fans continue to mourn his loss, the memories of his warmth and talent will undoubtedly endure in the hearts of many.
