Tragic Accident: 19-Year-Old Deaf Youth Killed by Train in Sribhumi
A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday in Patharkandi, Sribhumi district, where a 19-year-old deaf youth was killed after being struck by a train. The victim, identified as Pritam Ghosh, was the sole breadwinner for his widowed mother, supporting their family through his daily work. Local residents reported that Pritam had left home for a job when the accident took place.
Authorities stated that as Pritam was crossing the railway tracks, he was hit by the Agartala-Guwahati passenger train, likely due to a brief moment of distraction. The collision was so severe that it severed one of his legs and threw him off the track. Neighbors discovered him lying in a pool of blood and rushed him to the Patharkandi community health center, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) quickly arrived at the scene to investigate the incident. Following the investigation, Pritam’s body was sent to Sribhumi civil hospital for an autopsy. The community is now mourning the loss of a young man whose life was tragically cut short.
